Charlize Theron was born in Benoni, South Africa. She speaks some Zulu. Theron wanted to be a ballet dancer but knee injury ended her dream. She one-way ticket to Los Angeles and never looked back. After eight months she was cast in her first 'Children of the Corn III'. Charlize followed this with larger roles in box office successes 'The Devil's Advocate' (1997), 'Mighty Joe Young' (1998), 'The Cider House Rules' (1999). In January 1999 she appeared on the cover of the issue of Vanity Fair as the "White Hot Venus". Theron was largely considered just a pretty face but in 2003 this changed. Charlize starred as the serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster and won Oscar in February 2004 for this role as well as many other awards. In 2007, Esquire named her the Sexiest Woman Alive.
